DVB-T digital TV in Portugal was officially launched in May 2009 in 29 municipalities. Although it’s still brand new, digital coverage in December 2009 / January 2010 can already be found in the bigger cities. Read about it here.
TDT – Televisao Digital Terrestre - Digital TV in Portugal
TDT – Televisao Digital Terrestre is the official name of DVB-T digital TV in Portugal. The name and the TDT logo was revealed at the launch of the service in may 2009. Portugal however already started experimenting with TDT in 1998 in Lisabon, together with many other European national broadcasters.

Portugal FreeView / Free-to-Air channel list
Using a simple Pinnacle DVB-T receiver with USB interface, FreeView / Free to Air digital TV in Portugal can watched on a laptop. The channel list in December 2009 / January 2010 is modest with 5 broadcasters of which 2 are form the national television. The list was the same on most locations, such as Viana do Castelo (above Porto) and Beja (in Alentejo above the Algarve)
